Tennessee Fertility Institute Welcomes Dr. Pinar Kodaman
Tennessee Fertility Institute (TFI) is proud to welcome Pinar H. Kodaman, MD, PhD, a board‑certified reproductive endocrinologist and infertility specialist, to our team beginning spring 2026.
Dr. Kodaman brings a rare combination of academic leadership, advanced surgical expertise, and deeply personalized patient care. With nearly two decades of experience at Yale School of Medicine, she joins TFI with a longstanding commitment to helping patients navigate both straightforward and complex fertility journeys with clarity, compassion, and evidence‑based care.
A Career Rooted in Academic Excellence and Clinical Leadership
Before joining Tennessee Fertility Institute, Dr. Kodaman spent almost 20 years on faculty at Yale School of Medicine, where she most recently served as an Associate Professor of Clinical Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences. During her tenure, she held several key leadership roles, including directing advanced endoscopic reproductive surgery and recurrent pregnancy loss programs, as well as serving as Associate Fellowship Director for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.
Throughout her career, Dr. Kodaman has cared for patients facing a wide range of fertility and reproductive health challenges—from infertility and recurrent pregnancy loss to endometriosis, fibroids, ovarian insufficiency, and complex gynecologic conditions. She is especially well known for her expertise in minimally invasive reproductive surgery and for supporting patients who require highly individualized treatment planning.
Education, Training and Board Certification
Dr. Kodaman completed her combined MD/PhD at Yale University School of Medicine, earning her doctorate in Pharmacology, where her research focused on the effects of oxidative stress on ovarian function. She went on to complete both her Obstetrics & Gynecology residency and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility fellowship at Yale.
She is board certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, and holds a Focused Practice Designation in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (MIGS). In addition, Dr. Kodaman serves as an ABOG Subspecialty Examiner in REI and holds national leadership roles within the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), including Vice Chair of the Menopause and Ovarian Insufficiency Special Interest Group.
A Personalized, Evidence‑Based Approach to Fertility Care
At the core of Dr. Kodaman’s practice is a commitment to individualized, patient‑centered care. She is most proud of the continuity she provides—working closely with patients from their initial evaluation through treatment decisions and outcomes, even when the path forward is complex or uncertain.
Coming from an academic medicine background, Dr. Kodaman emphasizes evidence‑based treatment and shared decision‑making, ensuring that each patient’s goals, values, and medical history guide their care. She is known for helping patients feel informed and supported while navigating fertility treatment, whether they are pursuing ovulation induction, IUI, IVF, fertility preservation, or family building through third‑party reproduction.
Her passion for reproductive medicine began early, inspired by her father, an OB/GYN who cared for underserved communities in New York City. That influence, combined with her academic training and years of teaching future physicians, has shaped a career dedicated to advancing reproductive health and supporting patients at every stage of their journey.
A Commitment to Caring for Underserved Communities
Over the past year, Dr. Kodaman has also dedicated time to caring for patients in an underserved region of the country—working one to two weeks each month as a reproductive endocrinologist at the only IVF center serving all of North Dakota, as well as parts of Minnesota and South Dakota. In this role, she partnered closely with the state’s sole REI physician to help meet an overwhelming need for fertility care, often caring for patients who had waited more than a year for an appointment.
While the experience required time away from her family in Connecticut, Dr. Kodaman describes this work as deeply meaningful. It allowed her to share her expertise, learn how to thoughtfully provide fertility treatment in a resource‑limited setting, and better understand the diverse values, goals, and challenges faced by patients in rural and underserved communities. The relationships she built with patients and colleagues in Fargo, ND, and the opportunity to expand access to care where it is most limited, are experiences she remains profoundly grateful for.
Get to Know Dr. Kodaman Outside the Clinic
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Kodaman enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, engaging with the arts, and growing her own organic vegetables. She also loves hosting informal cooking classes for friends and family—bringing the same sense of creativity, connection and care to her personal life that she brings to her work with patients.
Looking Ahead
Dr. Kodaman is excited to bring her experience, collaborative spirit, and thoughtful approach to patient care to Tennessee Fertility Institute. We are thrilled to welcome her to our team and look forward to the expertise and compassion she will offer our patients starting spring 2026.
