Celebrating Our May Employee of the Month, Laura
We’re proud to recognize Laura Mullikin, a Registered Nurse in our Pre-Op/PACU, as Tennessee Fertility Institute’s Employee of the Month for May 2026, as voted by her colleagues. This recognition reflects not only Laura’s exceptional clinical skills, but also the compassion, empathy, and heart she brings to our patients and team every day.
A Personal Journey to Fertility Care
Laura’s passion for fertility nursing is deeply personal. “My husband Ryan and I experienced four long years of infertility and loss,” she shares. “Although we now have our two sons through IVF, I will never forget the pain caused by my season of infertility. When we started fertility treatment in 2018, it became a dream of mine to work at a fertility clinic!”
Laura brings a diverse nursing background to her role, including time in pediatric ICU and outpatient plastic surgery. For the past year, she has been an integral part of the PACU and OR team at TFI, where she’s found her professional home.
“I know without a doubt that the rest of my nursing career will be spent in fertility!”
Her lived experience gives her a unique ability to truly understand the emotional weight many patients carry—and to care for them with both clinical excellence and heartfelt compassion.
What Drives Her Care
Laura’s favorite part about being a nurse is connecting with her patients.
“Infertility can be so isolating, and it means the world to me for my patients to feel seen and validated in their personal experience.”
Her number one piece of advice to patients who are beginning their journey is to remember to care for themselves: “Infertility can be all consuming, so make sure you pepper in some kind of joy when you can! Whether it’s going out to dinner, a trip, or some outdoor/relaxation time, make sure you are kind to yourself when you can be.” A sweet treat after an appointment or procedure is also always well-deserved.
Life Outside the Clinic
Outside of work, Laura enjoys soaking up family time with her two young sons, who are now 3 and 5.
“These days there is a lot of Lego building, soccer, and superheroes!”
